3 Reasons I’m Excited about My New Website
Ta dah! I am delighted to announce that my new website is ready for prime time. After months of ingenious design and coding work by a couple of very talented folks, Joanne Burgess and Andrew Gray, it looks fabulous. It has great graphics in the homepage slider, rotating graphics on other pages, it’s generally easier to navigate and has a much cleaner look and feel. I love it. There are 3 aspects of the new site that will be of most interest to visitors.
1. It is now fully responsive on multiple devices
Internet access by mobile devices is exploding, especially by smart phones. Several of my web pages did not display well on smaller devices, especially the blogs. So we have converted all of my years of blogs to a format that is mobile-device friendly, and reworked other web pages to be the same. Gorgeous.
2. It is easier to navigate
The navigation functions in the WordPress template we are using are really slick. There are clean menus at the top and on the left-hand side of each page and there is a built-in search function. Cool.
3. It features my most current projects
With Geoff Kendall, I’m co-authoring my fifth book, “Future-Fit Business Benchmark“. Our publication process is unusual in that we are sharing drafts-in-progress of the document for public comment and feedback before we re-publish Version 1 later this year. Now people who visit my site with the intent to check out the benchmark and give us feedback can go directly to the document’s homepage with one click. Creating this free, open source resource has been the most thought-provoking effort of my life. I hope you’ll like it and find it useful. The next draft will be issued in June. We’d welcome your feedback on it. Sign up for the newsletter on that site to be notified when it’s available.
My second big ongoing project is maintaining and enhancing the usability of my Master Slide Set. I get lots of feedback that it is an invaluable resource for sustainability champions who want to stay current on the latest and greatest sustainability news. They enjoy tapping into a treasure trove of 500-600 ready-to-use slides as a quick-start for their own presentations. If you haven’t already subscribed, you may want to try it for a year. I expect you will be pleasantly surprised at its usefulness.
This is the fourth incarnation of my website since I first launched it in 2002. It’s come a long way. This version is much easier to maintain and is much better integrated with the subscription service for subscribers to my Master Slide Set. Browse and enjoy. Let me know what you think of it, or if you see ways to make it even better.
This feels so-o-o-o good!
Bob
