Advanced Sustainability Assessment Tool

This free, open-source Excel workbook is intended for large, multi-location, multi-national corporations with sustainability professionals on staff. It is based on the science-based Future-Fit Business Benchmark (FFBB) ‒ Bob helped develop R1 of that benchmark.  This tool enables a company to comprehensively assess its progress toward causing no harm to people and the environment, as well as to assess its positive impacts on people and the environment. It is a somewhat condensed version of the Future-Fit Progress Calculator.

As does the Basic Sustainability Assessment Tool, it expresses company sustainability performance in three ways:

  1. As scores on its 23 “Break-Even” goals for ESG issues, and associated 24 “Positive Pursuits”
  2. As scores on its contributions to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  3. As scores on its impacts on the 3 non-financial capitals (natural, human, and social).

Companies can express their sustainability scores in whichever framework’s terminology (ESG, SDG or non-financial capitals) is most appropriate for their management purposes and their stakeholders’ interests. That is why the tool was previously called the “3-in1 Sustainability Assessment Toolkit – Advanced.”

Basic vs Advanced Assessment Tools

This spreadsheet compares the above “Basic Sustainability Assessment Tool” to the “Advanced Sustainability Assessment Tool.” It may be helpful when deciding which tool is most appropriate and helpful for your situation, including creating a hybrid version that uses your preferred components of both.

ASAT slides

The Master – Sustainable Frameworks slide deck is one of six slide decks available to Master Slide Decks subscribers. It includes:

  • Sustainability reporting status
  • Sustainability frameworks (includes an overview of FFBB / ASAT and how  it compares to other mainstream sustainability frameworks)
  • Sustainability ranking frameworks
  • Business model frameworks

The master decks are updated quarterly. The slides can be used to build your own slide decks for presentations, and are excellent micro-courses / tutorials / refreshers on key aspects of sustainability topics. They are Bob’s most valued resource.
